Magazine covers bound in, several with soiling and/or short tears, the rest near fine. ![]() ![]() 6 (October 1917), comprising 12 issues, a complete run, bound in two volumes of functional blue cloth. The issues cover also the news from the war fronts, reports about Turkish tyranny, reports from Iraq, Persia, the political and military situation in Europe especially from Germany and British trade after the war. This newspaper was obviously produced for the large number of British expatriates and military personnel serving in Iraq during the First World War, and it is an interesting reflection that although the British had only been in Iraq for three years (on the pretext of protecting the oil fields) within that short period of time, Basra, Iraq?s second city, was, on the evidence of the advertisements of British banks, commercial enterprises, photographers, even agents for Scottish Whisky. Scarce, it is highly unlikely that other copies of this Iraqi newspaper exist. 80, Thursday, June 22nd, 1916 / Volume V, No. 79, Wednesday, June 21st, 1916 / Volume V, No. 78, Tuesday, June 20th, 1916 / Volume V, No. 77 Monday, June 15th 1916 / Volume V, No. Loose seven issues as follows: Volume V, No.
